The Dreaded Mascara Smudge

Hey everyone!

A horror story: It’s a hot day. You put your whole face of makeup on, including your mascara. You head out for a long day in the sun, and when you see yourself in the mirror, you see black smudges underneath your eyes. You look like you haven’t slept in days! Well, you haven’t. But the mascara doesn’t make it any better! Don’t worry, you’re not alone! This can be SOLVED. Here to help!

Today I knew it was going to be hot out, but I wanted to wear makeup. I shouldn’t have to sacrifice wearing a little bit because of the heat, right? No! Absolutely not. So, let me tell you some things I did today to prevent those awful smudges. And, anytime I need to make sure I look great for the day!

MY TOP TIPS:

1. Waterproof Mascara

If you don’t want your mascara to smudge…waterproof. If it’s a hot day, no question. Waterproof. I honestly wear waterproof regardless of the conditions. It stays on well and I don’t have to worry too much during the day. My favorite high end waterproof mascara is the Chanel Inimiatable Waterproof Mascara and my favorite drugstore mascara is the Loreal Voluminous Mascara (in carbon black, always).

2. Less Moisturizer/ Oils

If you wear under eye cream, great for you! I do as well. I love it. But, on days where you need your mascara to stay put, I’d skip it. I’d also try not to rub your moisturizer under your eyes. I’d even give the space from the outer corner of your eye to the nostril area to be without moisturizer. Then there is less stick! Also, on hot days, no face oils if you can help it! This will make the whole face melt off too. Maybe try a oil-free moisturizer as well too!

3. Powder

Well, here is my secret trick. The one you may not know or have heard of! Well, I bet you know about powder. But the trick? I bet not! So, first, find any translucent powder, or honestly any powder you have (anything helps). Then, take a brush and put some powder underneath your eyes. Then, after you’ve put on your mascara, let it dry for a bit. Then take a smaller brush or the same one and place a little powder on the bottom eyelashes. The powder put on before and this as well will help prevent sticking.

Hope these tips work for you! Go enjoy the heat and that beautiful face of yours!

All my love!
